Friday Fun!

woo-hoo it's friday!
this week seemed long to me.
okay, so instead of just doing the normal friday favs,
i am participating in a few blog hops!
i really love these!
they are lots of fun and i find new blogs daily that i love reading.
and to all my new readers and followers, WELCOME!

okay so first up is
friday fives from beth at just me and my life.
Just Me and My Life
she has the cutest blog!
here are her five random questions from the week:
1.If you could be on a show(talk show, game show...) which one would you pick?
hmmm, that's a hard one because I love shows! probably The Price is Right, but really only if Bob Barker was back. he's just awesome!

2. What was your first job?
the dairy queen! just like most people from my town, but it was pretty cool.

3. What's one of your guilty pleasure?
hmm, just one...haha i guess it's blogging. serious i love it. i need to be doing other things, but i end up on here reading blogs and keeping this one up.....or it could be ice cream!

4. Would you ever vacation alone?
i'm not really a loner type person, i love people. but yeah i think i could. especially if it was somewhere i had never been and i could explore and do what i wanted, like to England!

5. Democrat, Republican, or Independent..or maybe even Green Party (whatever that is)?
i actually kinda like politics, but i hate conflict so i usually avoid talking about them. i guess if i had to put a name on what i am, it would be conservative!
Very fun questions.
just click the link above to go to beth's blog
and link up for yourself!
next is one i actually just saw this morning,
but i thought it was too cute to skip.
over at my little life she has 5QF
or five question friday.
these are super cute & here they are:
1. Did you have a favorite blanket or toy as a kid? If so, do you still have it?
my raggedy anne blanket. i still cover with it on the couch.
michael hates it & i don't care. ive had it since i was born.
2. Do you dream in color?
yes! at least i'm pretty sure that i do.

3. How tall are you? Do you wish you were shorter or taller?
um, like 5'7 i think. i kinda like it, but my husband is 6'5
and he always wishes i was taller!

4. If you could have anyone's (celeb or other) voice as the guide on your GPS, who would it be?
i've never thought about this one. but i really love wanda sykes voice! that would be fun!

5. Do you return your shopping cart to the corral or leave it wherever in the parking lot?
i try to always return it. maybe like 2 times in my life have i left it out there. it's pet peeve of my moms, and i always think about what she would say. haha.
okay so there is the little questionnaires for your friday!
& now a few friday favs
& things i'm loving this week:
first is getting samples in the mail!
yesterday i snapped this picture when i got 2 free samples.
this is all the FREE samples i've got in the past 6 weeks
seriously! it's pretty awesome + ive had more but used a few.
i get tips on where to sign up from several blogs, but these 2 are my favs:
if you love saving money like i do, then you will love these sites!
my next fav this week is
going on fun evening motorcycle rides
and seeing the sunset over barns and fields
like this:
this picture is from the blackberry, so that's why it's crappy.

lastly, my favorite thing this week is
staying away from facebook!
i seriously used to be on fb all the time
& it is addicting for me anyways.
but im starting to realize the drama it brings
so im really really trying to not be on it everyday.

well that's all the friday fun i have for now!
thanks for stopping in!
have a blessed day :)

link parties are on the right.

It's A Random Thursday!

wow, it's thursday!
the weekend is getting here, slowly but surely.
i have thought and thought about what to post today...
actually i was awake in the middle
of the night visiting my good friend insomnia :(
& thinking about what to post today, kept running thru my head.
well i decided to just go with randomness.
i mean, who doesn't love random?!
so to start...
i am participating in these great blog hops today!

The Two Savvy Sisters

i have already found some new great blogs
and hopefully visitors will like this one as well.

now, a few items from my wishlist.
there's nothing wrong with wishing is there?

oh how i would loveee to have a pink apple :)

this beauty would be nice too, canon rebel!

i luv fisheye pictures...maybe one day i'll get a fish eye lens.

okay....enough wishing already.
if you have any of this products, let me know how you like them :)

currently, im trying to talk michael into going to
dollywood splash country!
it's a wonderful water park & it's been stinkin' hot here lately!
when school starts back, i know that i will have zero time
so i think we should have some fun til' then.
i looked at disney tickets yesterday,
for a trip we are thinking about taking in december
&  wowee they are pretty steep!
but it would be greatt fun!
if you can't tell i luv theme parks
& so does michael, so it usually take
much to talk him into it!

have a blessed thursday!
& i'll leave ya with this

Ten Things!

today's blog is inspired by
& her amazing post about
10 things to smile about this month!

sometimes it's very easy to think about things that make us:
mad, frustrated, angry, unhappy.
but i like to think about the things that
just make me smile!
so here are my....
10 things to smile about this month:

1. that i have amazing parents, who loves me endlessly.

2. that me & my new husband are loving married life!

3.  that even though summer break is almost over,
i'm going back to nursing school! something i wanted more than anything!

4. having this blog makes me smile, mostly.
i am so blessed to be able to write, which is my favorite
& have great readers like you that read it!

5. Jesus & all he does for me.

6. picnik & all the great things it does.
& that i can make my pictures look like this :)

7. my sweet dog maggie,
even though she lives with mom, she makes me smile!

8. craft projects like this one at the
hungryhippie that i can't wait to try!

9. my family reunion, which is super fun
& this picture of michael with his 3-legged race partner.

10. & finally- looking at pictures like this one-

me & michael when we first started dating.
we rode alllll the time.
we still do when we can, but this was before responsibility :)

Well that's it.
10 great things that really make me smile.
Have a blessed day!

Hooooo Am I?

today i am participating in a new blog hop!
ive seen this on other blogs and
i think it's a really cute idea
to get to know one another.
every tuesday, night owl crafting
does hoooo are you?
where they post questions and people answer them on their blogs.
now, if you have a blog & are reading this- link up!
i think it's a lot of fun.
& here are this week's questions!
1. Do you sing in the shower or car when no one else is listening?
ha, all the time! i don't honestly know if I can ride in the car
by myself & not sing, unless I was really just down and out!
the shower, only sometimes.
im usally still sleepy!
2.  Do you have a nickname you go by now or growing up?
hmm...not really one nickname. different people call me different stuff.
most people just call me jess, which i like.
some people call me jesse, jay...etc.
my volleyball coach in high school called me J.R. for jessica renee.
3. Do you speak another language?
man, i wish i could. i took spanish for 2 years in high school,
but i don't speak it. when we went on our honeymoon,
everyone spoke spanish & me and michael said we are going to learn it.
but being that will probably be a while, since i only have time to study for school :(
4. Where is you favorite vacation spot?
wow, i did a blog on this last week!
so far, it has been Virginia Beach!
it was a great time, with tons of things to do there.
i also loved Cozumel, Mexico!
5. What do you cook the most for dinner?
the dinner rut, is what i call it.
i can never think of new things to make that are simple.
usually i end up making the usual...
tacos or spaghetti or pizza or garlic cheddar chicken or meatloaf.

so there it is....a few q & a's about me!
now it's off to do some things before my BF gets here.
today were to school to check some things out &
for me to change my name.
im soooo ready to see her!!

have an amazing day!

Baby Shower Gifts

i hope everyone has a great weekend.
i sure did, but it went by soo fast.

so, i have to say that i was half way thru my
friday favorites on friday when
michael comes in and tells me come on
wanting me to drop everything as always and
go somewhere with him.
so i did & then i did some grocery shopping
and by the time i got back home i had to
make my shower gifts for my cousin & actually
never got back online.
so i do apologize, but today i have some goodies to show you!

it was my cousin's baby shower on saturday &
i craft(sorta) her gifts!
first thing i made was a cute wipe case:
i just mod-podged some pretty scrapbook paper
to this thing of wipes and then cut out the words on the cricut
in vinyl and added a ribbon and flower
i really was happy with how it turned it out!
next thing i made was a
diaper cake (sorta)
it looked more like a leaning tower of diapers! haha

all in all it was pretty for my first time!
i read some directions online, but found that i didn't have
any of the stuff.
so i winged it.
i would've done a tutorial, but i was in a hurry & i believe that shows!
but basically i just used a 36 count pack of diapers
and wrapped them around a bottle of baby wash.
and just tied a ribbon around them tight and then put the black ribbon
around that for decoration and cut the words
baby girl on my cricut and added some curly ribbon.

the last thing I did was make a cute baby card.

which is basically all from the stretch your imagination cartridge for cricut
and i added the rub-on sweet baby and a cute flower.
all in all, she was happy and i thought it turned out
pretty good to have been done the night before!
here she is opening them:
have a great monday!

First Tutorial: Scrapbook Storage.

yay for firsts
today i am posting my very first tutorial!
i do craft projects a lot, but never photograph them or think of posting them.
& today while i was reading on some blogs,
it occurred to me that I should do one of my own.
first its a big help when you are looking for a new craft or idea
and next it may bring some new readers to the blog.
now, i would really love to get the word out about
my little blog, but i dont want you to think that's all im about either.
as i told you before, i write my heart out even if i had no readers.
it's just me :)

without further rambling, let's get started.
i guess i call this Cheap Scrapbook Storage
(although, it doesn't have to be for scrapbooking things, it could be anything!)
very simple project!

Materials Used:
-an empty glass jar (i had 2 b/c i cleaned them outta the fridge)
-patterned paper (not really necessary)
-stickers, vinyl or whatever you want to label with.

1. Find old glass jars, such as food jars, baby food, etc.
mine had salsa & cheese dip @ one time.

2. Wash the jars & try to get all as much of the paper & glue off that you can.

3. The original plan was to make these clear, but i hate that ugly glue
that i couldnt get off. but i didnt want to cover the
jars completely, because i love clear storage so i can see what im looking at.
so i covered only have the jar with double sided card stock.
i adhered the card stock with E-6000 glue, amazing stuff.
but you can use mod podge, hot glue...etc.
So then looking at the jar it looked like this

And the side & back looked like this.

5. Next things is to make your label for your jar.
I cut out the word 'flowers' on the cricut in vinyl using the All Mixed Up Cartridge.

Put your stickers or vinyl on & then it will look something like this:

& i did my other jar

Added some ribbon & here are the finished projects:

that's it!
it probably doesn't get much simpler than that,
but i am very happy with them.
now im not crazy about the little salsa jar & how it says salsa on the lid
so you can cover it if you want but after i get a bigger craft table
or some more shelves, i plan to mount these babies.
mount the lids to the bottom, so you just have to twist the jar off
kinda like this....

haha... of course im just holding it up to my desk,
but you can just shoot a screw through the lid and there ya go :)

I hope you have enjoyed my simple storage tutorial.
Thanks for reading!
I appreciate any comments

Drift Away

it's wednesday
is the week really half gone?
oh well, that means the weekend is well on it's way!

last night we went to the atv rodeo deal @ the fair.
it was so much fun!
michael raced and i got to catch up with friends :)
i dont have any pictures to post, sadly.
i was too busy talking and videoing for michael.
but here is michael & his 4wheeler about a month ago
when we first got it.
yeah he will kill me when he finds out i put this on here.
oh well.
all the other pictures of it are b&w and i love the yellow!
*sorry it's a terrible pic, from the blackberry.
have you noticed the changes in my blog?
the new title image and new fonts?
html codes are a pain, but it's worth the cuteness i think.

okay, onto more exciting stuff.
over the next few days...
i have a few questions for you!
so instead of just reading this blog, today i would
love some input.

i would like know...
what is the best vacation you have ever taken?
tell me what made it so great?
attractions, scenery, food, hotel?
its great to hear others experiences because it helps
with future decisions!

& here is my answer:
the vacation i have been on,
(since i have been old enough to remember anyways)
would have to be Virginia Beach
it was a beautiful beach.
things that made the trip so great:
-the people i went with, of course, mom, scott and michael.
-the places we ate: we asked the locals a lot.
-deep sea fishing
-busch gardens

-sun bathing
-a relaxed schedule (who wants to be rushed on vacation?!)

all in all it was a great trip.
we went last year i think?
anyways leave a comment & tell me about the
best vacation you have ever taken.
i appreciate it!

thanks for reading & have a blessed day!

*note- im trying not to be on FB as much, so if that's where you
get the info when i post a new blog, you may want to subscribe via email or become a follower.
(see right sidebar).
thanks in advance :)
